How FAPTO Allocates Its Money

2006/2007 Budget
For the 2006/2007 school year, FAPTO's budget for non-fundraising expenses is approximately $27,000. This money has been raised from membership dues, our annual auction, Smart Bean Coffee sales, Taco Bell Tuesday lunch sales, Italian Ice sales, and generous donations from parents.

Who Benefits from FAPTO?
All of the effort put forth by parent and teacher volunteers is for our student body. Programs are developed and funds allocated to areas that enrich the student body as a whole. While not every student can benefit from every dollar spent, FAPTO is conscious of the greatest good and is considerate of individual needs.

Our current program includes:

  • Cultural Enrichment $10,000
  • Staff Development (including continuing education for teachers) $6,000
  • Student Activities (proms, dances, yearbook) $1,000
  • Field Expense (sales from Italian Ices goes towards maintaining the field)
  • Art Supplies $900
  • Teacher Requests $2,900
  • Teacher Appreciation $2,000
  • Text Books (FAPTO's 2005/2006 contribution was $7,500)

Who Decides how money is spent?
The Executive Officers of FAPTO determine the overall budget for the following year. The officers generally attempt to continue the programs already established. Additional parent, teacher, and staff requests are considered when determining the budget. Allocations are directly related to the amount of monies raised during the school year. Teacher requests and staff developments are voted upon by FAPTO members attending the monthly meetings.

How can a FAPTO member have a greater say in how money is spent?
Foothills Academy Parent Teacher Organization meets on campus every second Tuesday of the month from 7-9 pm. Teacher and administration requests are presented and voted upon at these meetings. We invite all Foothills Academy staff, teachers and FAPTO members to attend these meetings.
